• ICIA not only contributes to the quality of life of students and staff at the University, but also makes a substantial contribution to that of the wider population of Bath and North East Somerset and Swindon.
• ICIA attracts audiences of artists, arts professionals, academics and students to conferences and symposia from the South West, across the UK and abroad.
• Has collaborated on projects and events with artists, arts organisations and academics from the South West, across the UK and abroad.
Why Interdisciplinary?
The University of Bath created ICIA to deliver arts programmes in innovatory practice including visual arts, theatre, contemporary dance and music. ICIA's ethos is that working with more than one discipline together can offer opportunities for creative exploration that working with a single subject might not.The University of Bath is currently a particularly science and technology based institution and therefore an ideal context for the development of interdisciplinary approaches to arts practice and activities. A cornerstone of ICIA's work is collaboration with the University's top quality academic departments in non-arts disciplines, (e.g. a choreographer working with a scientist) as well as working across artforms (e.g. a visual artist with a composer).
We have a range of classes and workshops led by visiting professional tutors, open to those aged 16 and above. Take a look at our programme by visiting www.bath.ac.uk/icia . Some classes are suitable for all abilities, others are more specialised. To find out if the class suits you, check the FURTHER INFO section under each class or workshop at our website. You will also find full details of levels, term times, what to bring or wear and any supplier's lists.
