Encore! Appeal

Are you feeling jaded with all the news reports at the moment? Do you think we could all do with something to look forward to?
Cast your mind back a moment to Friday May 23rd, one of the rare lovely sunny early summer evenings this year… It was Party in the City night and the Bath Chronicle reported afterwards: “To be in Bath on Friday night was to be part of an exciting and uplifting experience where you felt you were an active ingredient in a musical cocktail that had many different flavours, colours and varieties.”
We are in the midst of planning an even bigger and better Party in the City next May as part of the Bath International Music Festival and we’re also storming ahead with the Bath Literature Festival plans for February/March, bringing the very best literature and writing to Bath. With all the bad news we’ve been hearing lately, I think we need our Festivals more than ever. Many of our usual sponsors do too but, I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear, some of them simply can’t afford to support our festivals at the moment.
Can you please help and support our “Encore! Appeal”?
Bath Festivals have been growing in success over the last few years. This summer we had 11% more people coming to events than in 2007, 91% of whom rated the quality of the events they attended as good to excellent. There were 5 times the number of educational events than the previous year, held across 22 schools in B&NES. Almost 2,000 local performers took part in the Music Festival, rubbing shoulders with classical supremos, jazz giants, and world music stars that we are able to attract to our wonderful city.
Please help us to maintain this high standard and put on festivals to be proud of by supporting at absolutely any level: from paying for a box of books to go into a local school library at £25, to paying for a world-class string quartet at £5,000, and any amount in between. Click here for examples of how your support could be put to excellent use. If there’s something you are particularly interested in sponsoring please do call Ruth Knagg on (01225) 462231.
Do consider being one of these “active ingredients” in the artistic cocktail as the Bath Chronicle so aptly described it. Your support will be acknowledged on our Festivals websites and on a banner at the festivals. For donations of £250 and above you will also be acknowledged on Music Festival programme notes and invited to Patrons’ events. For donations of £50 and above you will become an honorary member of our Friends or Pen Friends scheme. You can donate by cheque or credit card by downloading the donation form here, or by calling us on 01225 462231.
Or you can donate now online by clicking on this link. Each online donation costs 50p and is processed by our Box Office partners Tickets.com.
Many thanks for your support.
